This is the story of our family affair with Chuckle the Nordic Folkboat. 'CHUCKLE' is clinker built with Mahogany planks on Oak frames with Spruce spars. A classic wooden boat. She was built by Harry Feltham in Portsmouth in 1954, one year after the famous singlehanded transatlantic sailer Blondie Hasler had his Folkboat 'Jester' built in the same yard. Perhaps 'Chuckle' and 'Jester' are sisters?

Mast spreader balls
I made these wooden balls to stop the jib snagging on the spreders.
I have a 1960 Nordic folk boat also wood and clinker built.
I sailed her a little too hard in a blow in the San Pablo Bay CA, recently, and.....
the spreaders have parted from the mast (I think they were the originals) and I need to replace them.
Did you make yours yourself, and if so, could you please let me have the dimensions . They look first class and will certainly last a long time. I love the wooden balls, that was a great idea.
When I lived in the UK, I had a very old East Coast One design and sailed around the River Blackwater Estuary (Essex) with the kids. Had a great time, and a few adventures. !!
Great blog, thank you for sharing.
