Freyja and fergus have loved stripping the mast of all its wires lights and hardware. Busy like beavers they have done it all in no time at all.
Giving the mast a close inspection we find a crack at the partners and a pocked of rot under a cleat. Great its made of wood, now to cut it down its middle and see if its worth repairing with new scarfed on timber or weather we just make a new one.
Did the same to my mast this past summer. Found no rot but finish was completely gone. Stripped it down then applied 8 coats of varnish and reassembled. Will be replacing wiring next summer. My Folkboat is from 1959 but am not sure of the builder. She is mahogany on oak as well. In very good condition over all
