The above 39 min. movie (it has a blank bit at the end, oops!) has been made to inspire free spirited travellers everywhere to share their adventures with their children. It has been a big commitment to go away for 27 days but well worth it for the children especially. We have all most definitely come to know parts of each other we might never have known. Dads now shared dream is that we may be able to do this every year! Thanks must go to all the warm welcomes we recieved from the generous hearted sea folk we met along the way, with out them, would we have made it!
This is the story of our family affair with Chuckle the Nordic Folkboat. 'CHUCKLE' is clinker built with Mahogany planks on Oak frames with Spruce spars. A classic wooden boat. She was built by Harry Feltham in Portsmouth in 1954, one year after the famous singlehanded transatlantic sailer Blondie Hasler had his Folkboat 'Jester' built in the same yard. Perhaps 'Chuckle' and 'Jester' are sisters?

ReplyDeleteWell done! Happy to see other families with enough courage these days to leave the protection of the harbor. Your kids will remember it for the rest of their lives!
ReplyDeleteI sailed with my six kids and dog on the Great Lakes for years.
